Sponsorship of the project
This innovative project is kindly supported by Mr. Louis CS Ng.
Mr. Ng is most kind and generous to support our project. After more than three years of testing and researching in new devices for removing clot from a blocked vessel, we have come up with at least two forms of device that can change the landscape of clotretrieval in stroke. Mr. Ng has donated to the research fund in inmaking this a reality. Two papers have been generated from PhD thesis: 1. Rf-Enhancement of Thrombus Properties to reduce distal embolization in thrombectomy2. Raman Spectroscopy of RadioFrequency (rf) strengthened thrombus The results are very promising. Applying mathematic equations to our experimental model, radiofrequency (rf) can be usedsafely and effectively inside a small brain vessel of less than 4mm. We havediscovered the optimum frequency is 400 kHz. With almost frictionless design ofthe thrombectomy device, 80% of the clot can be adhered to our device in about10 seconds and to be removed en masse without breaking up.
